SODA BLAST YOUR CARBS!

Soda blasting is really quite simple. You go to the fridge, steal that little orange box waaay in the back, the one with the dude holding the mallet (baking soda). Right next to the frosty brew (may as well take one of those too) Load the baking soda into your handheld sand blaster, and blast away at the grime.

We've talked about this a bit so I decided to try it, and guess what.. it works like a charm! You may not get that custom polished look, BUT it brings the metal right back to that funky rainbow, bluish, gold, silver look. I blasted the carb on the left for about 15 minutes, and the carb on the right was done in a parts tank for about 1/2 hour. That's a 40 year old carb.

Now it's not going to get the heavy gunk off, but it does bring the metal back to where it belongs and won't remove any in the process. Best part is, it's easy to clean off the carbs. No chunks of grit to worry about. This would probably work great on delicate electrical parts also.

Oh yes, WEAR A PARTICLE MASK, when that stuff blows back it sucks! Then wash it down with that brew you found hiding in the ice box!

  3. Soda blasting works great on the inside of aluminum covers. I find it's best way to get the gunk and grease out. Much neater than using carb cleaner or kerosene. I use a little pistol type sand blaster. You can purchase the soda in 50 lb bags at Harbor Freight in Albany. There is no excuse for dirty Amals. Good Luck! Team FASTLIKEJUDY
